The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a globally recognized education framework offered in over 160 countries, developing inquiry-based thinking, international-mindedness, and academic rigor. At Stamford American Internal School in Singapore, students follow three IB programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and IB Diploma Programme (IB DP).

Among IB schools in Singapore, Stamford American is the only one offering the IB alongside Advanced Placement, BTEC, and Stamford college-prep courses under one roof. Every student earns a US-accredited High School Diploma. In Grades 11 and 12, students choose between the full IB Diploma or an individualized pathway combining IB, AP, and BTEC courses into a single program.
Stamford American delivers the full International Baccalaureate curriculum in Singapore from Kindergarten 1 through Grade 10. All students follow the IB programme continuum, building inquiry-based thinking, international-mindedness, and academic rigor before choosing their Grade 11-12 pathway.
At the end of Grade 10, students choose their pathway for Grades 11 and 12. Unlike most IBDP schools in Singapore that offer a single curriculum track, Stamford students select from two routes. Approximately 40% choose the full IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). The remaining 60% build an individualized pathway, selecting from all four curricula offered at Stamford. Both pathways lead to the US-accredited Stamford American High School Diploma.

All students must earn a minimum of 24 credits across 8 subject areas to graduate with the Stamford American High School Diploma. Full-year courses earn 1.0 credit; semester courses earn 0.5 credit.

Students may change courses at the end of the first year of Grades 11-12. Course changes during the year are handled through the Academic Dean and require consultation with the College Counselor, as changes can affect university eligibility.
Students on the Individualized Pathway build a portfolio of recognized credentials. AP exam scores (reported on a 1-5 scale) are accepted by universities globally. BTEC diplomas are internationally recognized vocational qualifications. IB Course Certificates let students sit individual IB exams without committing to the full Diploma – ideal for students who want IB rigor in specific subjects alongside their AP or BTEC courses. All credentials appear on the student’s transcript alongside the Stamford diploma.

Yes. Grade 10 students in the MYP may apply to take one AP course alongside their MYP studies, allowing them to begin exploring advanced subjects before choosing their Grade 11-12 pathway. Applicants must meet course prerequisites and may choose from three eligible AP courses. Students are still required to complete the MYP Personal Project.
