Purpose-Driven Student Leadership

Service and Leadership CCAs at Stamford are where students move from teenager to mature leader. These are not teacher-directed community projects – they are student-led initiatives where young people identify real needs, plan meaningful responses, and execute with genuine impact.

Students in these CCAs engage with disadvantaged communities, raise awareness for global challenges, and take on practical community work that makes a measurable difference. Leadership here is not about titles or positions – it focuses on emotional intelligence, public speaking, diplomatic skills, and the ability to mobilize others around a shared purpose.

The goal is tangible: students build a portfolio of genuine community contribution and develop the soft-skill mastery that universities and future employers value most. These CCAs produce students who can articulate their values, lead diverse teams, and create change in communities they care about.

What Your Child Will Develop

Service and Leadership CCAs build capabilities that differentiate students long after graduation:

  • Empathy and global awarenes (Elementary) – understanding that communities beyond their own face different challenges, developing curiosity about the wider world
  • Public speaking and persuasion (Middle School) – presenting ideas clearly, debating with evidence, finding their voice in group settings
  • Project planning and execution (Middle and High School) – designing initiatives from scratch, managing timelines and budgets, coordinating volunteers, measuring impact
  • Diplomatic skills and negotiation (High School) – navigating complex stakeholder situations, building consensus, representing positions they may not personally hold (Model United Nations)
  • Portfolio documentation (High School) – articulating impact for university applications, reflecting on growth, connecting service experiences to personal values

Service and Leadership CCAs by Grade Level

Service and Leadership CCAs build responsibility and autonomy as students mature:

  • Early Years (Pre-K to K2): Not applicable at this level – Service and Leadership CCAs begin in Elementary School.
  • Elementary School (Grades 1-5): Chat Champs: Story and Speech Explorers (Student Support Department hosted). Introduction to communication skills, self-expression, and peer support in a structured, guided environment.
  • Middle School (Grades 6-8): Go Green Gardeners, Lions Wilderness Survival Challenge, Model United Nations (MUN), Public Speaking, Mastering Self-Awareness for Confident Self-Regulation and more. Students begin leading meetings, organizing events, and taking responsibility for club outcomes.
  • High School (Grades 9-12): Athletic Council, Burmese Cultural Club, Care for Animals Club, Chinese Cultural Club, Chinese Debate Club, Circle of Care Club, Elderly Tech Support Club, Finance Talk Network, Gawad Kalinga, Japanese Cultural Club and more. Students run executive teams, organize school-wide events, and manage external partnerships

From Club Member to Secretary-General of a 100-Delegate Conference

Stella – Secretary-General Model United Nations

Stella joined Model United Nations at the start of high school. By her final year, she was Secretary-General – leading 40 members and organizing the school’s 7th annual conference with the Ambassador of Ireland as guest speaker.

“As Secretary-General of our school’s MUN club, and someone who has been a member throughout my entire high school journey, I’ve been able to witness the impact of MUN on students from both a personal and leadership perspective. Today, MUN has over 40 members… Our biggest milestone this year has been the successful organization of our 7th annual MUN conference. This was a large-scale event that brought together over 100 students from international schools across Singapore… the presence of the distinguished Ambassador of Ireland to Singapore as our guest speaker further elevated the conference, providing delegates with real-world insight into diplomacy and international relations.”

  • Model United Nations (MUN) conferences – both Stamford-hosted (100+ delegates from schools across Singapore) and external local and international conferences
  • Annual Stamford MUN conference now in its 7th year – organized entirely by student executive teams
  • Public speaking competitions and debate tournaments
  • Community service partnerships with organizations such as Gawad Kalinga
  • Cultural exchange events organized by student-led cultural clubs
  • Leadership recognition through Athletic Council, Honor Societies, and student government positions
