Social Program at Stamford American

Education at Stamford American is not only geared towards academic success. In aspiring to the International Baccalaureate (IB) learner profile, we are equally committed to a social curriculum that teaches critical life skills to our students.

Stamford American is a proud adopter of the award-winning Second Step social program rooted in social-emotional learning (SEL). This learning methodology is directed at improving cooperation, communication and decision-making, with a special focus on preventing bullying. SEL programs have been shown to significantly improve social skills, attitude and behavior, and academic performance.

Second Step modules are a regular part of the Stamford American curriculum for students from Pre-K level to Grade 5. By encouraging emotional intelligence at a young age, we hope to create an environment in which all students can feel safe, thrive and become their best selves.
