Creative Arts CCAs at Stamford American

Explore Your Creative Voice Beyond the Classroom

Our Creative Arts CCAs give students the freedom to explore new mediums and discover their artistic voice beyond the classroom curriculum.

These CCAs offer a deep dive into digital, virtual, and traditional art forms. They are spaces where students can experiment freely, collaborate on projects, and develop a creative identity that is entirely their own. Unlike classroom art – which follows structured syllabi and assessment criteria – Creative Arts CCAs are about exploration, iteration, and personal expression.

From jewelry making and watercolor painting in the Early Learning Village to digital art, photography, and game design in High School, these CCAs develop both the confidence to create and the technical skill to execute across diverse artistic platforms. Students learn to take creative risks, give and receive feedback, and develop a body of work that reflects their unique perspective.

What Your Child Will Develop

Creative Arts CCAs build capabilities that support academic performance, personal wellbeing, and future career readiness:

  • Creative problem-solving (All levels) – approaching challenges from unexpected angles, iterating through multiple drafts, embracing productive failure
  • Portfolio development and artistic identity (High School) – building a coherent body of work that demonstrates growth, personal style, and technical range
  • Collaboration and critique (Middle and High School) – working on group projects, learning to articulate creative decisions, giving constructive feedback

From a Traditional Classroom to Discovering Film and Animation

Eunie – President of BTEC Art & Design

When Eunie transferred to Stamford from a traditional AP-focused school, she had no clear direction in the arts. Through BTEC Art and Design, she tried everything – and by the end of junior year, found her voice in film and animation.

“When I transferred to Stamford in my junior year from a traditional AP-focused school, I initially felt overwhelmed… I decided to take a leap of faith and enrolled in BTEC Art and Design, even though I didn’t have a clear idea of what I wanted to pursue within the arts. What drew me in was the possibility of exploration… I tried everything from traditional visual art to digital work, gradually discovering what resonated with me. By the end of junior year, I found myself increasingly drawn to film and animation: forms of storytelling that combined visual creativity with narrative depth.”
