The Lions Tennis Academy is operated by our partners at Savitar Tennis and is currently open to students from KG2 to Grade 12. The program provides top quality tennis coaching at Stamford and offers our students the opportunity to reach their full tennis potential. Our tennis program is aimed at the long-term skill development with appropriate learning stages. The Lions Tennis Academy ranges from cubs (beginners) to highly competitive teams using the schools two multi-purpose tennis courts.

THE LION CUBS - GRADES 1-3
Our classes are a great introduction to tennis focusing on the basics of the game. We emphasize building passion at this age through constantly engaging students in fun-filled activities, incorporating good movement and coordination exercises. Modified balls and courts are used to give the students age-appropriate apparatus and allow them greater success whilst simulating the feeling and skills of adult tennis. THE LIONS CUBS - GRADES 3-5
With this group of players, we focus on building a strong foundation of footwork and stroke production. Volley smashes and serves will be covered in addition to refining basic ground strokes. The participants will also take part in many tennis challenges and have lots of fun through playing, learning and compete.
THE LIONS - MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL (GRADES: 6-12)
At this level, we enhance the improving player’s game by introducing placement and spin, emphasizing consistency and also introducing basic tactics through simplified point play and games. Improvement of strokes and footwork is continuous.
STAMFORD LIONS REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS - U11, U12, U14, U19
This level comprises the school’s representative teams. It is designed for the seasoned junior player with a few years’ experience in the STA tournament system. This level of player demonstrates a technically sound performance. We focus on improvements by addressing small details, as this is the stage where a player transforms from a “ball striker” to a “tennis player”.
This level also emphasizes in depth analysis and understanding of court positioning, phases of the game, and proper shot selection. We offer an introduction to the ever-fascinating and all-important mental and emotional aspects of the game of tennis. Our academy also continues tennis-specific physical conditioning with the addition of strength and endurance training, while continuing speed and agility training.
