More to Try, More to Discover
At Stamford American International School, students have hundreds of opportunities to explore what interests them beyond the classroom.
With 500+ activities, clubs and academies across the school, the Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) program spans academic enrichment, creative and performing arts, service and leadership, sport and STEM. Students can try something completely new, spend more time developing an existing interest or pursue an activity with greater commitment as their skills grow.
Choice is an important part of the experience. A student might discover debate, experiment with robotics, join a sports team, perform on stage or explore a new creative skill. As their interests change, there are opportunities to make different choices and discover where they want to go further.
From academic interests and creative expression to sport, service and STEM, Stamford’s CCA program gives students a broad range of ways to explore what they enjoy and discover new interests.
Academic Enrichment
CCAs give students opportunities to take academic interests beyond their regular timetable. Activities can include areas such as debate, languages, business and investment, creating space to investigate ideas, exchange perspectives and challenge themselves in different ways.
Creative Arts
Students can experiment with different materials, techniques and forms of visual and digital creativity. Activities range from watercolor and manga to game design and 3D printing, giving students room to create, test ideas and develop their own approach.
Performing Arts
Music, theater and dance provide opportunities to rehearse, create and perform with others. Students can take part in productions, ensembles and other performance experiences, with opportunities ranging from trying something for the first time to developing greater technical skill.
Service & Leadership
Students can take responsibility for ideas that extend beyond themselves. Through experiences such as Model United Nations, student-led initiatives and community partnerships, they learn to organize, collaborate and consider the impact their choices can have on others.
Sports
Stamford offers opportunities for students who simply want to stay active as well as those who want to compete or develop their sport more intensively. Students can explore recreational activities, competitive athletics and academy-level coaching as their interests and ambitions develop.
STEM
Robotics, coding, engineering and design give students opportunities to build, experiment and solve practical problems. Students can apply ideas from science, technology, engineering and mathematics while creating and testing solutions of their own.
How the CCA Program Works
Stamford's CCA program runs across two semesters each year, giving students the opportunity to make new choices as the year progresses. Students can change activities between semesters, participate in more than one CCA where schedules and availability allow, and choose from both free and paid options. Activities can take place before, during or after the school day, as well as on Saturdays.
SchoolsBuddy is Stamford's registration and payment platform for CCAs. Once a student has joined the school, families use SchoolsBuddy to browse available activities, register for CCAs and make payments for paid activities. The platform also provides families with a clear view of their child's CCA schedule.
Current CCA schedules and related information are also made available to Stamford families through the MyStamford parent portal.
