Early Years
At Stamford’s Early Learning Village, children learn through purposeful play, inquiry and hands-on exploration.
The Early Years approach is Reggio-inspired and grounded in American educational standards. Learning experiences are designed around the way young children naturally investigate, communicate, create and make sense of the world around them.
From Pre-Kindergarten, children begin learning within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). Literacy, numeracy, language, movement, music, creative expression and social-emotional development come together to build strong foundations for the years ahead.
Children are encouraged to ask questions, try ideas and become increasingly independent, while remaining known and understood as individuals.
Ages 7 to 11 years
Elementary School
Elementary School gives students the knowledge, skills and confidence to take on increasingly complex learning.
The curriculum combines American AERO Standards with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). Students develop strong foundations across core academic subjects while learning to investigate ideas, make connections and apply what they know in different contexts.
Learning extends beyond the core curriculum through languages, the arts, physical education, technology and other specialist subjects. These experiences give students more opportunities to discover interests while continuing to strengthen essential academic skills.
As students progress, they are encouraged to take greater responsibility for their learning, explain their thinking and approach unfamiliar questions with growing confidence.
Ages 12 to 14 years
Middle School
Middle School is a time of growing independence, changing interests and increasing academic challenge.
Students follow the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) within Stamford’s American curriculum. They study across a broad range of disciplines, including Language and Literature, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Arts, Design and Physical Education.
The MYP encourages students to make connections between subjects, explore ideas in real-world contexts and develop the ability to think critically about what they are learning.
Students also strengthen Approaches to Learning skills, including research, communication, collaboration, self-management and thinking. These skills prepare them for the greater independence and choice that comes with High School while allowing them to keep exploring different strengths and interests.
Ages 15 to 18 years
High School
High School gives students greater freedom to shape an education around their strengths, interests and plans for what comes next.
Students in Grades 9 and 10 continue with the IB Middle Years Programme, strengthening subject knowledge, research skills and independent learning as they prepare for senior study.
In Grades 11 and 12, students can choose between different academic pathways. They may complete the full IBDP Programme, or create an individualized pathway drawing from Advanced Placement courses, BTEC International Level 3 qualifications, individual IB Diploma courses and Stamford courses.
Both routes lead to Stamford’s US-accredited High School Diploma.
This flexibility means students do not have to follow one fixed senior pathway. They can make choices that reflect what they are good at, what they want to explore further and where they may want their education to take them next.
