Centrally Located and Cultivating the Innovative Mindset
Centrally located in the major expatriate area, Stamford has two inspirational school campuses; the Early Learning Village and the Elementary and Secondary Campus. The Elementary and Secondary Campus located at Woodleigh Lane combines the best teaching and learning school facilities including three swimming pools, two indoor sports arena, one outdoor sports field, a 500-seat professional theater, rock climbing walls and classrooms designed to spark the imagination and learning vibes of the students. Just ten minutes away from the main campus, the Early Learning Village caters to children between 18 months to 6 years. Reggio Emilia inspired where the environment nurtures the child, the Village campus features purpose-built school facilities with the little learners in mind such as child-height doors and windows, lots of space to run around in the 6 outdoor play areas with sensorial learning at every turn, a dedicated swimming pool with varying depths and light and airy classrooms with adjoined discovery areas, thoughtfully tailored to each grade level.
Bringing technology into play and with the aim of cultivating the innovative mindset, the Innovation Center is a great space for elementary and secondary students from aged 6 to 16 years to explore and explore their creative minds. It allows them to learn with new technologies, collaborate with external partners and organizations who are leading entrepreneurs and leaders in their field. From workshops to speaker sessions, students are presented with experiences beyond the classroom. As a purpose-designed area, it fully exploits the contemporary ‘makerspace’ concept. Unlike in a standard classroom, the flexible space allows students to play and with emerging technologies and techniques - 3D printers, robots, electronics, textiles or fashion and collaborate with external organizations and leaders who are experts in the technology field.
Providing a holistic curriculum for all
As a truly diverse community, the international culture of the Stamford American is very well-supported by the World Language Program, which includes daily instruction for Mandarin or Spanish or Bilingual Mandarin/English with the aim to develop excellent communication skills in both languages in students. Catering to different levels of proficiency, this program allows them to learn confidently and smartly. Parent-led, a weekly and optional Mother Tongue Program is available for students of all ages. With 12 different mother tongue languages offered on campus such as Swedish, Finnish, Dutch, French, Russian, Filipino, Hindi, Hebrew, Norwegian, Portuguese and Spanish, children are taught by native teachers and have access to classroom facilities, IT support, library and event space to host special activities.
The early learning curriculum is guided by the USA Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework which starts at birth and outlines the skills, behaviors and developmentally appropriate milestones to foster the growth of young learners. Stamford offers specialist instructions in music through the Suzuki Violin Program, specialist physical education through SMART Steps and Perceptual Motor Program and education model which incorporate STEAMInn – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics and Innovation (STEAMInn).
The Academic Field Studies Program starts from Grade 3 at Stamford, explores the academic curriculum within fascinating and often challenging environments beyond the classroom. It demonstrates the importance of taking responsibility for one’s own life journey. Developed in consultation with experiential education market-leaders JUMP! Foundation, it aims to develop students as ecologically literate, compassionate and engaged global citizens. Students take on leadership roles as they prepare for the experiences in the field, build deep meaningful connections with their peers and teachers as they encounter complex challenges in real-world environments, linked to their academics.
There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to the journey of learning, and every Stamford student is coached towards a successful academic outcome, which is individually right for them. As a proudly non-selective school, there are course options to suit different proficiency levels and interests. Stamford has 40+ International Baccalaureate courses and 20+ AP courses to select from and carries out pre-university testing from Grade 10. The only SAT and ACT test center in Singapore, the dedicated Academic & College counseling team work hand in hand to prepare the students to get admissions to the top universities worldwide.
Sports Programs For All
Following a “Sports for All” philosophy, the competitive and recreational sports curriculum supports Stamford’s core values of growth, community, integrity and caring by fostering the development of character, lifetime wellness skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, integrity, and a sense of fairness and respect. Stamford American aims to offer appropriate pathways for sporting development from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in a wide range of individual and team sports including badminton, basketball, cross country, golf, gymnastics, rugby, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, touch, track & field and volleyball.
Stamford was the Champions for SEASAC Soccer and Volleyball and ACSIS under 16 Boys Soccer and Under 11 Boys Tennis.
To support with the transition to Stamford American, our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) host a number of school events to welcome new members into the community, the school adopts a friend buddy system for all new joiners and our caring teachers welcome new students every week.
