What Sets Us Apart

OUR TEACHERS AND CURRICULUM

At Stamford American, our teachers are early learning education specialists and their knowledge and experience complement the built environment to ensure every child is happy, involved and learning. Our unique curriculum is guided by the USA Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Year’s Program (PYP). STEAMInn – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Innovation is integrated across the curriculum. Our teachers carefully monitor children’s learning by using GOLD ™Assessment system which is an authentic, ongoing observational system for monitoring children’s progress and development.

Showcasing our deep commitment to student well-being and the strong relationship we enjoy with our families, we provide school updates in the form of five daily teacher blogs, a weekly newsletter, four quarterly reports and two parent-teacher conferences.

OUR SPECIALIST PROGRAMS

Our world class specialist programs include specialist languages of Mandarin or Spanish, English as an Additional Language (EAL) support, an innovative and unique Bilingual English/Mandarin program, and we are the only school in Singapore to offer the world-renowned Suzuki Violin Program from the age of 3, with the option to progress to cello from KG2.

We are also very proud of our Instrumental Music Program (IMP) at Stamford American, which starts as early as age 3 for 1 to 1 private or group music tuition, taught by quality music instructors.

A moving child is a learning child – which is why we offer physical education from 18 months through the introduction of the acclaimed SMART Steps and Perceptual Motor Program. The Early Learning Village has dedicated space, staff, and specialized equipment to deliver this outstanding program as part of the school day.

We also firmly believe that especially in such a diverse international environment, visual art lets students communicate and visualize in powerful ways beyond their native languages. Visual arts lessons in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum are designed to foster creativity and self-discovery. Students are exposed to visual concepts through a hands-on approach to art and are prompted to respond to various aesthetics.

OUR STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, the Early Learning Village has been built as an environment for safe, experiential learning for Early Years children. The learning spaces were designed by world leading architects with a profound appreciation of early learners specifically. The inspirational Village is a treasure trove of state-of-the-art school facilities, featuring child-height windows and doors, six outdoor playgrounds with lots of space to run and play, a covered swimming pool designed for learning how to swim, the Hive which is an indoor air-conditioned wide-open space with lots of room to run, dance, tumble and turn, a well-stocked library, a health centre and a parent cafe. We also have a teaching kitchen and a science lab, with child-friendly set-up work benches.

Furthermore, each classroom is abundant with natural light, and stocked with beautifully designed sensory facilities and all timber furnishings to stimulate imagination and kindle curiosity.

Attached to each classroom, there is a discovery space which tailors to the different grade levels, where children extend their learning as they venture through their own pint-sized door to dig in the sand, splash in the water and enjoy different facilities and activities such as maker space or science learning with nature. Each teacher will change the resources and stimulation in the discovery space to extend their classroom learning.

Globalism lies at the very heart of our ethos and the core of our daily school life. We are proud of the 75+ other nationalities that makes up our student population. Together with our academic teaching teams, which comprises of over 30 nationalities, our truly international community embraces diversity – celebrating each other’s cultures and achieving the ability to live, learn, work and compete in our increasingly converging world that is represented in our host nation, Singapore.

Meet our Admissions Team

“Upon applying from Boston last February, we chose SAIS over SAS because of the high level of warmth mixed with professionalism and communication from your staff.  There was no question in my mind, which school presented better – your team made us feel so welcome.”
