On Saturday September 5th, Diploma Program Visual Art and Art History Students visited the Asian Civilisations Museum. The field study was aimed to inform and inspire students about the culture, heritage and history of their local community.

Students spent time exploring the museum, collecting information and drawing the ancient artifacts. Diploma Program 2 students were able to make connections to the project they are currently working on, and use the Asian cultures as inspiration. While Art History students took part in the guided tour, discovering facts behind the ancient art world.

Diploma Program 1 students were able to sketch and find information on still life, figure, sculpture and textile work to use as inspiration for future projects.

All of the students were able to make connections to their Theory of Knowledge studies, finding artwork which was historical, cultural and sociopolitical topics.

Watch out for more information on our next field study trip to the Gillman Barracks.
