Christmas Winter Wonderland at Stamford
Dec 2nd, 2017 – Stamford American International School opened its doors to bring together families, friends and guests in the spirit of community to celebrate the magic of this holiday season. Organized by the Stamford Parent Teacher Association (PTA), the campus was transformed into a beautiful Winter Wonderland and was well-attended by over 3000 people. The school event was held in the late afternoon to twilight, to capture twinkling lights and carols, with a light breeze and relief from the warm Singapore sun, the atmosphere was truly joyful.
Features included choir singing by students, staff and parents, a night market of boutique vendors, tree-lighting, snow party, Santa storytelling and photos, bouncy houses, train rides, carnival games, dunk tank where students could take the aim to submerge their favorite teachers, while arts and crafts projects brought out their creativity and gourmet food stalls – mirroring many of the Christmas Night Markets in the world.
One of the carnival highlights was the Stamford Yard Lighting Ceremony which was officiated by Superintendent, Dr. Eric Sands. The Yard was lit up at 7pm as the crowd gathered in the moonlight while the guest opera soloist, Patricia Sands, sang beautifully to the tune of “O Holy Night.”
A highlight for the kids was the snow party which was enjoyed thoroughly, as they played in the foam snow, creating a winter feel on Stamford Field. The campus was alive with joyful singing, playful children, delicious goodies and connecting families.
Recognition goes to the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for bringing such a spectacular school event to Stamford, which is now an annual event on the school calendar.
