Stamford American International School

Superintendent's Welcome

Welcome to Stamford American International School (SAIS) website. Whether you are already a part of the SAIS community, a potential addition, or browsing out of curiosity, I hope that you enjoy learning more about SAIS.

SAIS opened its doors on August 17, 2009 to bring to the Singapore market an academically rigorous, student centered International School with an American ethos.  We currently accommodate Nursery (age 2) through Middle School students and upon opening our permanent campus on Upper Serangoon Road in August of 2012, we will extend through high school. We’re very excited about our permanent campus and its tailored education environments and technology integration that will enhance our students’ learning experience.

SAIS is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IBO) Primary Years (PYP) and Middle Years Programmes (MYP) and integrates these programs with the United States of America national standards. The PYP and MYP are an inquiry -based curriculum which focuses on building knowledge, skills and understanding.

A unique feature at SAIS is the foreign language program. All students receive their choice of either daily Mandarin or Spanish. In addition, EAL (English as an Additional Language) and learning support teachers work closely with the classroom teachers to provide assistance where needed. We believe that children learn best by exposing them to a variety of experiences, building on their prior knowledge and allowing them to reflect on their experiences.

In our Elementary and Middle School Programs, the core subjects are taught by grade level homeroom teachers who are supported by specialist classes for art, music, physical education, and ICT. Throughout SAIS, there is a dedication to incorporating technology into our education strategy with interactive Promethean Boards in each classroom, dedicated computer time for all grades, and a 1-to-1 Netbook Program for our Middle School students.

SAIS is an extraordinary school, made so by its focus on educational excellence and its warmth and integrity. SAIS is built on a strong sense of community, a commitment to realizing the potential of each student, and providing a balanced education that addresses the academic, social, emotional and physical aspects of our students' lives.

Websites are useful but are rarely able to capture the true magic of a vibrant school. It is my hope that you will visit us and tour the school, so that you can see first-hand what makes our school a special place.
