ST SCHOOL IN SINGAPORE TO OFFER

SECOND STEP SOCIAL PROGRAM

BUILDING HAPPINESS, RESPECT & UNDERSTANDING

Second Step Social Program

Stamford American's social program - using the award winning Second Step methodology - promotes skills for learning, empathy, emotion management and conflict management.

For over 25 years, structured holistic learning programs have shown to improve pro-social skills and behavior by 50% leading to a 10% gain in academic improvement. Pro-actively combating bullying, Second Step works to improve behavior, positivity and academic performance. The social curriculum teaches these critical life skills weekly to all students from Nursery through Grade 5.

From Grades 6 through 8, we use the Stepping Up and Stepping Ahead programs to cover more advanced areas of personal and social education in further preparation for more advanced education and beyond.

An advisory program also supports our Secondary students’ academic progress and college and career readiness by increasing students metacognitive abilities. Students develop key skills and habits for learning as they understand their strengths and areas for improvement in support of academic achievement. Students meet regularly with their Advisor to reflect on their individualized academic and social-emotional development towards their goals and developing the skills essential for postsecondary success as they manage their own time for academic and personal development.

Second Step is a program developed by the Committee for Children a non-profit organization helping students in over 70 countries.
