ST & ONLY SCHOOL IN SINGAPORE

TO OFFER SUZUKI VIOLIN

FROM 3 YEARS OLD

MUSIC

Music helps to develop a child’s senses and self-expression it has a direct link to mental development, intelligence and memory. Our commitment to music can be witnessed everywhere at Stamford American, from the very first steps of the musical journey in Nursery, to the largest instrumental music program in a school in Singapore.

We are the first school in Singapore to offer the world-renowned Suzuki Violin Program from the age of 3, with the option to progress to the cello from the age of 5. Playing the violin is proven to improve concentration, and combined with the Suzuki philosophy of encouragement, listening and learning with others, our students foster emotional awareness and creative development.

From this robust platform, students progress through our International Baccalaureate curriculum, gaining a deep insight into listening, theory, reading, performance, notation and composition, as well as musical history to put experiences into context.

A love and appreciation of music is seen in our students with many becoming accomplished musicians in their own right, supported by a cohort of professional and passionate musicians. Many enjoy participation in one or more of over 20 choral, string, orchestral or rock ensembles, performing at frequent concerts in our state-of-the-art 500-seat Reagan Theater or weekly lunchtime performances, all keenly anticipated by the whole school.
